Fromage de Chevre que Je Fait Aujourd'hui

Also translated as: "I made goat cheese today"!!!!:D
We have just starting getting enough goat milk to actually benefit from having a dairy goat. The kids are almost weaned and Daisy is giving alot of milk, so today,as I stared at ALL the jars of milk in the fridge, I thought I'd try my luck at making cheese. Rachel had found a really easy recipe online so I used that. It's really simple:
1 gallon of goat milk
3/4 cup lemon juice
salt
herbs
First you heat the milk up to 185 degrees Farenheit. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice for several minutes till the milk curdles enough. Strain through cheesecloth and then add herbs and spices. Keep cheese in the cloth hanging on a spoon over a bowl (in the fridge) so it can keep straining. Bon appetite! That's how easy it is!

So it turned out well, except I think I messed with it a bit too much, because it has a sort of rubbery texture to it. But for a first-timer I'd say it was a job well done! Oh! I also found a really cool website about dance cards right here :) Well, that's all!

I'm Still Here!:)

Up to this point Rachel's cat has eaten a baby mouse, killed the other one, and then lo and behold, one of the little kids found the supposedly eaten baby mouse in Anna's room!! And alive, at that! So I just got back from dropper-feeding the mouseling.
Now, an explanation on my tardiness of posting: Our whole family has been particularly busy these past few weeks, and I've been helping feed the baby goats every 3 or so hours, milking Daisy twice a day, feeding baby mice, watching kids, working in the business, etc. So in my free time I do have, I have been reading Great Expectations, and just relaxing, not really blogging. Suffice it to say, that Rachel makes time for blogging in her free time and I don't.
Daisy the goat, has given her owners great anguish by her inconsiderate actions. She doesn't stand still for 2 minutes at a time, and has spilt a whole bowl of milk too many times. We have sought advice from a very good source(Maddie W.:) and changed some things accordingly, and yet, she is still the most ornery old goat that I ever did see! And her off-spring aren't much more refined. This morning finally, Lizzy took to sucking down milk, but Chip hasn't "quite got the idear" of this method yet.
So, poor us, ;) ..............
Well, I was going to post some really cool words that I found while browsing through Matthew's iPod dictionary, but he is gone, and I don't remember most of them, so that shall have to wait.
We watched P&P last night with mom, my aunt, Daniel, and Matthew, and I think everybody liked it! Aunt Christy was surprised at Wickham and Lydia, and Mom was shocked that Lizzy refused Mr. Darcy's proposal. It was fun to watch their faces at the different parts!:)
I hope this post is droll enough, but I don't really have a lot to post about and am home watching the kids with Aunt Christy while Mom is shopping, Daniel, Matthew, and Rachel are working, and Dad is digging footings for the W.'s mobile home!

Oh! Here's a fun Regency dance that we came across!

Goaties!

Hey Everbody! I was just gonna post some pics of the new baby goats! There is a boy and a girl(as Rachel said) and they're adorable!!! The boy got his longer hair from his dad and his "prettiness" from his mom, and the girl is black and tan on her face and legs and is black with a white splotch on her back!!

Do you like em? I sure do!! :) :)

Okay, well I've gotta go, but I just watched Pride and Prejudice last night and I absolutely loved it!!! Mr. Darcy and Lizzy are my favorite!

Gotta go!(matthew says hi)

The World's Youngest Grandmother!

Hey everybody! My nine year old sister Anna is the world's youngest grandmother! (Finally!)
Her La Mancha goat, Daisy Sofia, had twin kids! They were born about an hour ago! As of yet, we don't know whether they are bucklings or does... or both! We are just letting Daisy get used to them. She's being the perfect mother and licking both of them. One is a bit bigger than the other, and I'm guessing it's a male. Maryanna and I (a friend) were going out to feed her, and saw 3 goats in the pen! :) The principle people interested are both absent. (Sarah and Anna) so they were slightly outraged that after tarrying two weeks, Daisy had her kids without them!
Well, pictures will come soon! -Rachel

Oh Phooey. What Should I Write About?

Hey! Church today was pretty fun, there was a new visitor! We always love to see new faces! This guy is from a family of 11 kids and came an hour and 45 minutes to come visit. Two of his brothers work for Scott Brown's ministry, so we felt slightly as if we were meeting someone famous. ;)
Okay. Have you ever watched anyone in a movie or somewhere else say something and think, "Wow! That was extremely ill-timed!"
I do it all the time! For instance, in Little Women, Jo has just refused Laurie, and is being comforted by Beth. Amy comes upstairs and asks what's wrong, listens with a rather blank countenance, and promptly says, "Aunt March is going to Europe." and then interrupts Jo's ecstasy by saying bluntly. "She's taking me."
Isn't that crazy? I know for a fact that if Sarah had just refused somebody, and Uncle Lon had told me he was taking me to France, I wouldn't spring that on her at that moment! I simply can't understand how anyone could be so tactless! :O
(If you haven't noticed, this is a very random post.)
So. I think Anna's blasted goat will go down in the history of "Goatdome" as the slowest in giving birth EVER!!!! She has been "having her kids in 12 hours" since we came home from the trip!!!
(Apparently the "for sure" signs that she'll give birth aren't that "for sure" because we have witnessed all of them days apart during the last week!) This deserves some sort of strange award. Maybe I should make one up: The Daisy Sophia Award: Bestowed upon the creature, human or otherwise who takes the longest in labor. (But I doubt any mother would welcome such an award! :) Whatever.
Vision Forum agains postponed their judging date for the story contest. I highly doubt I'll win anyway, so I am sort of forgetting about it, and will be pleasantly surprised if they come and dump a thousand dollars in my lap! :) Well, that's about all that's new around here! -Rachel

p.s. I'll get to Leanna's post soon enough! Oh! And Abigail, we decided to let you choose one too!
