What Happened Today?

Ever wonder "what happened in history today"? Well, I went ahead and looked some up! :) Here are some events, births, etc. that happened on September 14th. I thought this would be fun and I hope you enjoy it! :)
In 1814 Francis Scott Key wrote the "Star Spangled Banner" today.



1879: Margaret Sanger, the "outspoken early twentieth-century advocate for birth control." was born







In 1972 today, the "Waltons" TV show premiered.






1901: President McKinley died from infected gunshot wounds.




1959 Soviet probe reaches the moon.





In 1948 today, ground was broken in New York City for the United Nations' world headquarters.




1964, Walt Disney is awarded "The Medal of Freedom" at the White House.





2005: a federal judge in San Fransisco, declared the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools unconstitutional.
