In Which We Lose A Neighbor ;)

Well, we have had rather an epic scare! It went thus: we have an eighty-some year old neighbor woman who is great friends with Grandma June. They go everywhere together! But this morning the house-help called Grandma June in a dither because Miss Virginia could be found nowhere. Her bed had not been slept in. Mama, Dad, Grandma June, and Aunt Christy all went over to check things out. They scoured the house and yard and sheds. No Miss Virginia. They called the police. 4 or 5 cars arrived and they too turned the property inside out. No Miss Virginia. Her purse was still in the house, and her cane was hooked on the dog yard fence. By this time everyone tried not to imagine what could have happened. The police brought a dog over to sniff around. Some friends from her church arrived. Everyone was on tender-hooks. No Miss Virginia. Matthew, Sarah, and I tried to keep all of the kids from knowing what was going on. It would only worry them. No Miss Virginia. Suddenly, we got a call from Mama saying that they had found Miss Virginia. Where you might ask? How to explain the un-used bed? She had been out in a field ALL NIGHT LONG after losing her way without her glasses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness. How she scared us! How weary she must be, an old, old woman who cannot stand up straight due to her arthritis in her back, out all night long in a field!!!! In the rain and cold!!! I would be scared to do such a thing! What a resiliant spirit Miss Virginia has! Well, our prayers were answered in there not being anything wrong, but my stars! What a to-do! -Rachel
