Our County Fair's a Great County Fair.....

....Don't miss it, don't even be late!:) Hey everyone, it's me, Sarah. We've been practically living at the county fair this weekend. Friday morning they judged the chickens and our family got several ribbons. I got second place in broilers, and 4th in roasters. Benji did the best-he got 1st and 3rd! Anyway, yesterday our grandparents came out to go to the fair with us while Rachel, Daniel, and Dad were mowing(and getting Rachel's permit) My grandad and Benjamin actually rode the elephant that was there! We came home in the late afternoon and around 8:00, the work crew came back and Daniel took Rachel and I to the fair for the rest of the evening. We checked in at the 4H tent and then got our dinner. After, we decided to ride the Ferris Wheel. Rachel and I rode together and Daniel and his friend, Daniel rode in another seat. Let's just say, that our personalities seemed to switch from last year when I was purposely rocking the seat with our cousin Matthew.:) Rachel was almost petrified last year, but this year we swapped! I guess she was trying to make up for my teasing her about her permit. When we finally got off, we found that the other Daniel had been scared too. We walked around the arts & craft tents and saw some really pretty, quilts, quilling, chalk paintings, and beeswax candles.
Now it's me, Rachel typing! (I know ya'll must be tired of all this switching-typists)
Okay! So this morning after doing all our Saturday cleaning, we went to the fair again and made sure all the chickens had water and food, etc. We also helped blow up balloons to decorate with. Then we used the wrist-bands Dad had bought for us to the last drop practically. We rode the Ferris Wheel twice more, (and weren't scared any more. It looks creepier in the dark) did a huge slide several times, (well, I only went twice because I found out it is not quite the thing for someone in a skirt!) did the bumper cars twice, rode a very small roller-coaster, and Sarah went on the huge swings. We sent her on them to test the dizziness-factor. She came back sort of woozy so I didn't go on. The rest of the family was there too, and we had a family bumper-cars match. Around three, most of us left, but Mama stayed a bit longer with us three oldest ones.
We got some groceries, and came home right before our cousins and a family that was staying with them came for dinner. We had a great game of volleyball! (I was on the losing team twice! :(
We had dinner, and then found out that Matthew, our cousin, could come for about an hour with us to the fair.
Hello, it's Sarah again. We came mostly for the bull-riding tonight and we're not a bit disappointed! The bulls were crazy! We saw several riders get trampled-nearly. There was one bull, Uno, who was particularly nasty. The first rider tried him and Uno became wild even before being let out. The guy got his leg crushed against the bars of the gate and had to rest for a turn. He tried again, and this time the bull broke the rider's ankle by smashing it again! We felt so bad for him! The show was quite exciting and we had front seats. Then the one guy that had stayed on a different bull for around 20 seconds, said he'd try his luck on this bull. We were all afraid he was being terribly foolish and expected him to be trampled within the first few seconds. But this guy, rode that bull for far over 8 seconds, and only stopped when they were trying to slow the bull down! We were all cheering- half the time our hearts were in our throats even though we didn't know any of these guys. Rachel says she'd hate to marry a bull-rider because she'd expect to be a widow any time her husband got on a bull! Tomorrow evening we'll go back to pick up our chickens. We had a wonderful time, but we'll all be glad when the busyness of the fair is over. Hey, as an afterthought, I timed it, and the fair grounds are exactly 4 minutes and 9 seconds away from our driveway, in case any of you were wondering how we're going back and forth so much! Well, Goodnight from both of us!
