A Few Things I Learned Today

Hey Guys!
This is me, Sarah writing. Today in school, Rachel and I listened to the tapes "That's Why They Call it Grace" by Diana Waring. While we were listening, a few things were mentioned that I hadn't really known about. For example: Did you know that there was a big fire in Rome, and Nero who was emperor in that time, was sort of happy that everything had burned, because he'd been wanting to build a new palace and different things his way. Anyways, people suspected him of starting the fire, and to distract them from that idea, he blamed the Christians, so many were killed! Also, some people think that Peter and Paul were killed during that scuffle. (Back in those times, the Romans and Christians weren't getting along all that well.) That was interesting. And another thing: A lot of people who didn't like Christians accused them of being cannibals(some little boy probably was peeking through a window, and saw the Christians talking about His body as the bread, and His blood as the wine;ran home telling his mom that "those guys are eating people!" :) and being atheists because they "only worshipped" one god. They also accused them of incest because everybody in the church including husbands and wives called each other brothers and sisters, and greeted each other with a holy kiss! Isn't that ridiculous?!
Also, I don't know about you, maybe you're up to date on this stuff, but I hadn't really gotten down what all the different Jews were. Like the Sadducees were the Jewish nobility and closest to the temple, the Pharisees were the law keepers and Essenes were sort of like Jewish monks, in that they separated themselves from everybody else.
I love history and finding out about different periods. I just thought that this might be a fun post to do so I hope you enjoyed it! I guess I'll sign off here!
One of my favorite passages:
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things.
